ProtoTO 2018: Needs More EVIL
Oh, Hai!
It’s been radio silence for quite a while, but that’s because we’ve been hard at work making final (!) changes to Storm and Conquer for ProtoTO 2018.
Five Point Oh
After backing my all time favourite internet cartoon* on Kickstarter (Trogdor!! The Board Game), I was inspired to allow players to become even more evil - check out this burniation:
Now, Evil Generals must first burn a village to flip an Blind-eye Card and for every other village destroyed, players get 1 Gold.
But being evil has its price. The Islanders will stop trading with those Generals. So now, per turn, they only receive 1 Gold by taking it by force.
Saying Goodbye
Sometimes you have to let go of things you love. My favourite building card “Tavern” is going to be replaced with a “Gold Refinery”. As much as I love the idea of a bunch of knights bonding over beers, this card solves the issue of Evil Generals running out of villages to pillage and it’s another way for Good Generals to earn.
Refineries allows players to get +1 Gold per turn.
Being Good Is Hard
The overall feedback for good players is that there’s no reason to be Good because being Evil is so much easier. This is true for this game and in life (I’m a part-time philosopher).
That said, I hear you honourable citizens. Stay tuned for “Good Only” upgrades!
